40 years at the heart of employment policy and practice
IES is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Since our inception we have led the way in research and understanding of a very wide range of issues concerning public employment policy through to managing people in employment.
The four decades have been marked by major changes in the world of work, with politics, technology and social change all contributing to new opportunities, pressures, legal requirements and attitudes to work and its place in our lives. As we look back and forwards, we hope you will be able to join us, reflect and share in our celebration.
During our Anniversary year we have a programme of additional activities:
HR directors’ retreat
for our HR Network members, an invitation-only ‘retreat’ for HR directors, on 24-25 April 2008 – on the theme of People Management, Past Present and Future
Garden party
a summer garden party on 11 June 2008, for IES public policy, and HR stakeholders, partners and clients, to be held at the Chelsea Physic Garden
Conferences
the annual IES public employment policy and HR conferences, to be held in parallel at the London Marriott on 19 November, to be followed by a reception
National quality of working life survey
a national survey sponsored by forward-thinking organisations who recognise the importance of being able to measure and benchmark the quality of working life
Seminars
a series of half-day thematic seminars, on each of our major work areas, to be held throughout the year, looking at developments in the field in the last 40 years, and likely future trends
Anniversary papers
the seminar papers will be edited together into a published volume marking our 40th anniversary
Anniversary dinner
the IES 40th Anniversary invitation dinner (early in 2009)
