40 years at the heart of employment policy and practice

IES celebrated its 40th anniversary during the year from April 2008. Since our inception we have led the way in research and understanding of a very wide range of issues concerning public employment policy through to managing people in employment.

The four decades have been marked by major changes in the world of work, with politics, technology and social change all contributing to new opportunities, pressures, legal requirements and attitudes to work and its place in our lives.
