The government has made a commitment to introducing age discrimination legislation before the end of 2006. This will outlaw age discrimination in employment and vocational training and will apply to people of all ages – the young as well as the old. It is vital that employers start – if they have not done so already – reviewing their policies and procedures to prepare for the forthcoming legislation.

This briefing provides an outline of the scope of the forthcoming legislation and sets out some of the key issues that employers should consider.
