IES is sad to record the death of Professor Mike Campbell, Honorary Fellow and Principal Associate at IES. Mike had been a longstanding friend and collaborator with the Institute, most recently as an independent expert and contributor to projects such as the Economic and Social Costs of Low-Skilled Adults in the EU for Cedefop, The Labour Market Story for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) and, over a longer period, through our work for UKCES when Mike was Director of Research and the former Sector Skills Development Agency.

IES Director, Nigel Meager, said:

'This is terribly sad news. Mike was a lovely man who made a massive contribution to our understanding of how to do skills and labour market policy. We worked together many times in the last thirty years, going back to the time when Mike was director of the Policy Research Institute in Leeds. We were proud that Mike agreed to be an honorary fellow of IES, and I and all my colleagues at the Institute send our sincere condolences to his family at this sad time.'
