Unemployment and labour market disadvantageOne of the key themes that links together much public employment policy and IES research is the problems some groups face entering and securing a successful foothold in the labour market. The Institute has been investigating the experience of disadvantaged groups and evaluating programmes aimed at improving their position for many years for clients such as the Department of Work and Pensions, Job Centre Plus, local and regional development and regeneration agencies, local authorities, voluntary organisations and bodies promoting equality in the labour market.
