Back Office Efficiency in the NHS

The financial crisis facing the NHS (and the public sector generally) encouraged leaders to think more creatively about all aspects of their organisations. One area that came under increasing scrutiny was back office functions and systems (eg HR, finance, etc.). In order to help decide on the future focus in this area, IES was commissioned by the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement to identify a number of examples of good practice, and produced eight detailed case studies together with a report highlighting the key messages emerging from these.
