Developing People Strategy and Leadership

IES was asked to support the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in developing its people strategy which would reflect and bring to life its corporate vision, values and strategy focusing on enriching people’s lives, but in turn help to shape and sharpen those dimensions.

‘Our People Strategy’ was a set of six guiding principles summarising how DCMS would develop the organisation through its people. Leadership was one of these six elements and IES worked with DCMS to develop a supporting Leadership Qualities Framework. It recognises that while senior leaders need to set the strategic direction, leadership is needed throughout DCMS to bring about change and people at all levels need to take on responsibility, take the initiative and feel empowered to make a difference.
