Impact of training on the unemployed

While the literature on the returns from education is very extensive, there is a gap in the evidence for returns to training, specifically formal educational achievement – such as NVQ-Levels or specific vocational qualifications (including diplomas) – for learners who begin further education and learning, via Active Labour Market Policies from a previous job-seeker status.

Our project investigated, and ultimately recommended, how treatment (those who experience training) and counterfactual (those who do not) groups could be identified from the data.
