Presents the findings of a study on the New Deal for Young Unemployed People, commissioned by NCVO. The study’s aim was to explore and determine the experiences of young people entering the Voluntary Sector option of the New Deal for 18 to 24 year olds. It also assesses how young people’s passage through the New Deal programme affects their attitudes to the voluntary sector as a whole. This New Deal option appears to attract participants by default rather than from informed choice. The report concludes with recommendations for all involved with its delivery.
