This project identifies the rural groups that find it most difficult to move into, remain and progress in employment. The project also describes and evaluates these groups’ current pathways into work.

This scoping study will inform the development of the Commission for Rural Communities broader programme of work on ‘Working in 21st Century Rural England’. More broadly, the study will also seek to inform the recommendations of the UK Commission on Employment and Skills (UKCES) to Government in 2009.
