This report presents findings from the Annual Small Business Survey (ASBS) 2007/08.

The survey interviewed 7,783 UK Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with between 1 and 249 employees between December 2007 and February 2008.

The findings showed improvements in some areas since the 2006/07 survey, although in many areas the findings were similar to those from 2006. Growth ambitions had increased slightly during 2007, while perceptions of the threat from overseas competition had decreased.

The state of the economy was increasingly seen as an obstacle to business success. However, the timing of the survey preceded the downturn in economic conditions that occurred during 2008.
