This report by Loudhouse for Adecco, with advisory input from IES, investigates attitudes and opinions towards the workplace, looking at employee issues, such as motivation and workforce attrition, whilst also addressing the role of workforce management and human resources at a strategic level.

The survey discusses how fundamental changes in the way that large organisations tackle employee management, coupled with changes in the recruitment and career landscape, result in new and potentially damaging disconnects between employers and the workforce.

Surveying over 1,000 employees and 150 HR directors, the report found:

  • Revolving doors - 45 per cent of current employees will leave their company in the next three years.
  • Seven-week window of exposure - on average it takes seven weeks to replace an employee once they have left the organisation.
  • Employee vs. board value - 54 per cent of HR directors believe the board values the role of HR, however only 39 per cent believe that employees see HR as valuable.
  • Whose job is it to motivate? Sixty four per cent of HR directors believe line managers should be the primary source of employee motivation, however only 18 per cent of employees agree.
