<title>Research finds consultant practitioners improve patient care at no additional cost</title>
<description>When radiographer consultant practitioners are introduced into clinical imaging departments, more patients are seen and a higher-quality service is provided at the same cost, a study has found. Drs Richard Price and Linda Miller researched two NHS trusts where the four-tier career progression framework - assistant practitioner, practitioner, advanced practitioner, and consultant - has been implemented. Departmental performance was found to have markedly improved following the filling of the consultant radiographer post.</description>

<title>Interim report on work-focused services in children's centres pilot</title>
<description>The aim of the pilot is to test how children's centres can offer a more effective means of engaging parents in labour market activity, moving them closer to work, and ultimately into employment. A mixed-methods evaluation is in place to assess the impact of the pilot and explore experiences and perceptions of its implementation. The evaluation includes surveys of centre users, interviews with parents, staff and stakeholders and analysis of DWP administrative data and data collected specifically for the evaluation, which is being undertaken by the IES for the Department for Work and Pensions.</description>
