IES RSS newsfeeds

RSS and XML

RSS is free wherever you see these symbols:

RSS feed   XML feed   news feed

This site uses the larger symbol to point to a page and the smaller symbol to a particular ‘feed’ or list.

These equivalent feeds are a way of keeping up with what’s new at IES. They contain headlines and a short summary linked directly to an IES website page.

Why use RSS?

Becoming or being an RSS user enables you to see at a glance the new content from many sources all in one place. You choose the subject feeds that interest you most, whether from sites like IES, or media sites, such as your favourite sources of what’s new in government decision-making on employment, trends in HR practice, or the economy in general.

You can register with IES to receive periodic emails of news, but emails can be more difficult to manage than your RSS ‘aggregated’ feeds in a single place.

Using RSS

To read RSS feeds you will need a Reader. Users of the Firefox browser, Opera, Safari, or Internet Explorer 7 etc. have this built in (including feed subscription and management), but separate reader/management software is also available for free download, for example NewsGator (free online reader) or Google Reader. There are many more (compendium of RSS readers).

Once you have your reader, you can list (subscribe) those feeds you come across in your reader (like web bookmarks). Then, at your convenience you can scan the lists, read, mark as read, and save items that are of interest.
