Chiara joined IES in February 2016 as a Research Officer. Her main interests and experience lie in the field of vulnerable groups, including disadvantaged young people, migrants and ethnic minorities. She is an experienced researcher with expertise in a range of methodologies including ethnography, semi-structured interviews, focus groups, case study research and quantitative analysis. She is familiar with a wide range of statistical techniques, and is experienced in analysing survey and administrative data.

Before joining IES, Chiara worked as an evaluation researcher for the charity Westminster Befriend a Family, where she analysed the impact of community-based services provided to families with children and young people aged up to the age of 18. In Italy she worked for the University of Milan Bicocca as a research assistant on spatial analysis of unemployment trends. She also worked on behalf of the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) on the survey design of the 2015 National Census.

She holds a PhD in Applied Sociology and she has a wide experience on mixed quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Since joining IES she has worked for a wide range of clients including UK government departments, educational establishments and international research institutes.
