Join us on 18 September 2024, via  in person or online access, for the launch of the final report from our two-year Commission on the Future of Employment Support, in partnership with abrdn Financial Fairness Trust.

You will hear from Alison McGovern MP, Minister of State for Employment; Tony Wilson, Institute Director at IES; and a panel of experts on how we can reform employment support so that it can better meet the needs of individuals, employers and the economy.

Background

The UK is facing a range of challenges in the labour market but also has a once-in-a-generation opportunity for reform. In the final report from our Commission, building on co-design work and consultation with service users, employers and wider experts over the last twelve months, we set out detailed proposals for reform over the next Parliament: including how we can make a success of a new Jobs and Careers Service; better join up and devolve support to meet local needs; deliver a seamless service for employers; and shift the balance within services from focusing on what you must do to what you could do, with the right support.

Who should attend?

This event is open to all with an interest in employment support and services. It is likely to be most relevant to policy makers in local and national government; those who work in the delivery of employment, careers and related services; those representing service users (individuals and/ or employers); and those with research or policy interests and expertise in these issues.

The event takes place between 10:00-11:30am, schedule of activities below:
