Employers face an avalanche of legal claims by staff who have suffered injuries while working from home during the pandemic, one of the UK’s leading experts in ergonomics and employee wellbeing has warned.

Wendy Chalmers Mill, managing director of Stirling-based Positive Performance, said organisations that have failed to conduct a proper risk assessment of the conditions in which their staff are working at home could have to pay millions in compensation.

A survey conducted by the Institute for Employment Studies, a fortnight into the first national lockdown, showed a sharp rise in workers suffering musculoskeletal complaints.
