IES and iCeGS research for The Careers & Enterprise Company
In line with UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in this privacy notice for research participants, we explain the legal basis for data processing for the evaluation of the Future Ready Fund. This includes who will have access to your personal data, how your data will be used, stored and deleted and who you can contact if you have a query or a complaint.
What is the legal basis for processing my data?
The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) is the data controller for this project, meaning it determines the purpose and legal basis for processing personal data.
The legal basis for processing is public task (Article 6(1)(e) UK GDPR), as the evaluation is carried out in the public interest. Where special category data is processed, the condition relied on is substantial public interest for research purposes (Article 9(2)(g)).
The Institute for Employment Studies (IES) and the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) process personal data on behalf of CEC.
You can access the CEC Privacy Notice, which explains their policies for storing and/or processing personal data, here: https://www.careersandenterprise.co.uk/cec-privacy-notice-cookies

How will my data be treated?
If you choose to take part in a focus group, interview or survey, the information you provide will be used for research purposes only. Findings will be reported in a way that does not identify any individual. Your data will be treated confidentially and anonymised wherever possible.
Your data will be held by IES or iCeGS on our secure servers based in the UK . Personal data will be retained only as long as necessary for the purposes of the research. Audio recordings will be deleted within 6 months of collection. Other personal data will be deleted within 6 months of project completion (expected June 2031).
You have rights under data protection law to:
- see the data we hold about you
- ask us to change anything that is wrong
- ask us to stop using your data
- ask us to delete this data
- ask for your data to be shared or transferred elsewhere.
Who can I contact for more information?
