Equality, diversity and inclusion
The Institute for Employment studies aims to be as diverse in our profile and perspectives as the society we serve and make a major contribution towards creating equal, diverse and inclusive workforces. We continually strive to support an inclusive company culture that embraces all individuals, ensuring every single voice is respected. Our active Diversity and Inclusion working group meets every 6 weeks.

Our values
Our values infuse our work. We strive for excellence, to be collaborative, and to bring curiosity to what we do. We work with integrity and treat people respectfully and with compassion. While we don’t have a stand-alone ‘culture’ interview, we do actively look for attributes that map to our core values. Our values are as follows:

Respecting Others: We value every person as an individual.
Acting with Integrity: We put research quality first.
Collaboration: Effective collaboration is woven into the daily fabric of our work.
Curiosity: We love to explore tricky issues and generate new knowledge that can be applied.
Excellence: We deliver outstanding research and consultancy that informs policy and practice.
Compassion: We treat each person as an individual and approach relationships with care.

We are an equal opportunities employer
IES actively seeks to improve the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all under-represented communities and groups. We are particularly keen to attract ethnic minority candidates given their under-representation within applied social research.

We use an anonymised recruitment process to ensure identities are concealed and all candidates are shortlisted against the key competencies outlined for the role.

In an effort to create a consistent interview framework, we ask all candidates for a particular job the same set of questions. Our interviewers attend unconscious bias training to ensure a fair and repeatable evaluation process.

We are a Disability Confident Employer and are happy to make adjustments to accommodate the individual requirements of candidates and employees.

IES encourages career development at all ages. Join us and work for an employer that values your experience. #AgeFriendlyEmployer
