Tackling child poverty through increasing employability for parents
The coalition government's Programme for Government has made clear its commitment to ending child poverty by 2020. A New Approach to Tackling Child Poverty, the government's first national child poverty strategy has at its foundation the belief that 'work, not welfare, is the best route out of poverty'. However, at a time of cuts in public spending and high unemployment, there remain pressing questions on how to go about achieving this and at what cost.
