Getting value from your values

Thursday, 23 February

Organisational values are often not memorable or meaningful for staff and are not integrated into people management. This workshop will use the research on values and practical case examples to explore how we can get more value from having a set of organisational values.

Pensions and the ageing workforce

Thursday, 23 March

This event will consider the practical implications of an ageing workforce and generational differences for employers and HR, and what, if anything, you should be doing about it. Come along to hear about and debate actions in areas ranging from health and wellbeing to employee engagement and reward.

HR Directors’ Annual Retreat: The changing face of work

Wednesday 26 – Thursday 27 April

Political, technological and demographic changes are all affecting the way we think about job security, productivity, performance and the employment relationship. This event will combine both stimulating presentations with reflection and debate.

Innovation: HR as enabler or inhibitor?

Thursday, 11 May

This workshop will look at whether organisations use HR Policies and practices to promote organisational innovation and thereby enhance organisational performance, or whether workplace innovation comes from other sources.

The dark side of wellbeing: Dementia

Thursday, 8 June

As the workforce ages, most employers have no plans to accommodate employees with cognitive decline. This event will look at both issues of the increasing rise in cases of dementia and the employer responses and consider examples of innovative practice which are beginning to emerge.

Change management: Elixir or Snake Oil

Thursday, 13 July

There is no shortage of advice on change management available to organisations and so many change management models that it can be hard to pick the models or theories of change which are best suited to your organisation’s specific context. This workshop will provide a ‘buyer’s guide’ to change management and OD support.

Integrating mindfulness and compassion

Thursday, 7 September

Mindfulness and compassion are increasingly being mentioned as features present in great places to work. This workshop will explore what these concepts actually are and how they might be taken beyond training programmes and leveraged to support organisational transformation and culture change.

Annual Provocation: Performance management, where next?

Friday, 17 November

We are witnessing a quiet backlash against some models of performance management (PM) and it seems we need a fundamental re-think of what purpose PM serves and which approaches are best suited to the ways we manage, motivate and reward people in the future. This year’s Provocation will tackle these questions and ask whether PM in its current form has served its purpose and what might replace it.

Workplace productivity: The human factor

Thursday, 14 December

What have high-productivity employers across a number of sectors done to deliver sustainable improvements in output and quality? This workshop will take a deep dive into case studies in both private and public sectors to draw out the big lessons for HR practitioners and line managers.

Annual Conference: Smaller function, bigger issues: Where next for HR and people management?

Full details of the annual conference will be announced next year. Keep an eye out for announcements on our exciting programme. Online booking for our 2017 events programme will open soon. For more information on events or any other membership enquiries, contact Emma Stewart-Rigby.
