Recent projects for members
HR Network News piece on our recent projects for HR Network members in 2016.
We continue to work alongside our HR Network members on a range of HR, OD and L&D topics. Over the past year we have supported Plan International Inc, a major NGO, in revising their values to support their organisation’s purpose and strategy. All Plan’s staff around the world had the opportunity to contribute their views and suggestions and IES then facilitated a global working group in drafting a values and behaviour framework using staff input alongside other sources of relevant information. After further consultation and refining through Plan’s governance committees, the framework is now agreed and IES has helped to amend a range of people management processes to incorporate and support the values and behaviours.
Alongside work with Kingston University on their HR transformation, and CPD support to South East London Councils, we are also undertaking an exploration of employee reward for Audit Scotland. This work aims to develop a number of reward initiatives which have been proposed by earlier research. IES will help by designing, delivering and implementing these initiatives to support their wider ‘Building a Better Organisation’ programme.
Working with a large public sector employer, IES is leading a research project in collaboration with Cranfield University School of Management, into piloting mindfulness as a tool for change. Meanwhile, building on our established work programme on employee engagement, IES has been commissioned on behalf of the same employer to investigate employee engagement across the breadth of their workforce, looking at the concept itself, how it is defined, measured and applied, and any evidence of evaluation.
Finally, we are undergoing two projects for a member organisation concerning retention, and financial and non-financial incentives respectively. This second project hopes to provide them with evidence-based guidance on the most effective use of incentives for one strand of their workforce.
