The inequality of ‘good jobs’: Naomi Clayton contributes to IFS podcast

Published:

IES Chief Executive Naomi Clayton joined IFS Director Helen Miller, and IFS Deputy Director Jonathan Cribb on an Institute For Fiscal Studies podcast to explore the inequality of ‘good jobs’.

Policy approaches to inequality and employment support often focus on wages and getting people into work, with too little attention to job quality and in-work progression. Job quality matters: it affects people’s health and wellbeing, how sustainable work is, and productivity.

As part of the IFS series on inequality, they discussed what good work means and how it varies, the importance of progression and training, how trends such as AI could shape the future of jobs, and what government can do to improve the quality of work in the UK.
