Helena Saenz de Juano Ribes

Helena joined IES as a Research Economist Fellow in March 2024. Her research interests lie at the intersections of family and labour economics, with a particular focus on individuals’ use of time and wellbeing in the workplace. Helena is an experienced empirical researcher who has worked across academia and international institutions, collaborating on projects related to employment characteristics and gender inequality.

Helena completed her PhD in Economics at the University of Glasgow, where she addressed social science questions using quantitative and machine learning techniques. Before pursuing her doctorate, Helena worked as a freelance consultant at the International Labour Organization contributing to a diverse range of research projects centered on entrepreneurship, informal employment and enterprise environment. Additionally, she assisted in a quantitative research initiative focused on women’s participation in trademarks and industrial design for the World Intellectual Property Organization.
