Lorraine Lanceley

Lorraine Lanceley joined IES in 2021 and has over 10 years research experience. She specialises in evaluations of employment and skills programmes, including those supporting the long-term unemployed, people with complex needs or disabilities and young people not in education employment or training.

Lorraine has extensive experience of quantitative research methods including questionnaire design, sampling, data analysis using SPSS and reporting. As an experienced qualitative researcher she has conducted in-depth interviews with employers, training providers, FE and HE staff, learners (young people and adults), staff at Local Authorities, Jobcentre Plus and DWP, people receiving welfare benefits and people with health conditions and disabilities. She has worked on all aspects of qualitative research including design, analysis, reporting and Project Management.

At IES, Lorraine is the lead contact with ELATT for whom IES are carrying out a process evaluation of their Connected Youth programme on behalf of the Youth Futures Foundation. While working at the Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion, Lorraine Project Managed a number of evaluations including a national survey of lone parents receiving Income Support and the qualitative evaluation of In-work Credit (both for DWP).

Lorraine also has direct experience of capability building within delivery organisations. While working for The Disabilities Trust, Lorraine helped them develop and implement a case management system to evidence the work and outcomes of their specialist Brain Injury Linkworkers who support people with brain injuries in prison and Young Offender Institutions. Lorraine has also work at BMRB Social Research, the Home Office and prior to joining IES she was a Freelance Researcher.
