This paper estimates separately the (i) earnings, (ii) employment and (iii) benefit premiums secured by those who achieve their highest learning aim whilst studying at an English Further Education Institution (FEI), relative to those who have the same highest learning aim, but do not achieve.
In 2010 the National Institute for Adult and Continuing Education (NIACE) and the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) were commissioned by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) to evaluate the impact of the introduction of new or improved technologies funded through the Get Connected funding stream. In October 2011, nine months after the initial survey of the first tranche of Get Connected grant recipients closed (in January 2011) a second survey was conducted with the first cohort of Get Connected grant recipients. This report sets out the outcomes of that second round of surveys.

To further explore how highly-skilled doctoral graduates contribute to UK society, culture and economy, this report highlights the employment pathways of researchers within and between six distinct occupational clusters; describing the stability, mobility and progression of researcher careers. This study illustrates that doctoral research training is a good foundation for a wide variety of occupations and demonstrates the flexibility of researchers who take advantage of a diversity of employment opportunities.
