Commissioned by Eurostat (the European Commission’s statistical body) the study represents a feasibility study into the ways in which high technology employment can be measured at the regional level across the European Union. The study examines a definition of high technology employment and then uses the UK Labour Force Survey to test the reliability of estimates based on this definition. Teleworking is becoming an increasingly important part of working life. But does it makes a positive or a negative contribution to sexual equality? Ursula Huws has been studying teleworking for nearly two decades. Here, she and her colleagues review the evidence and present the results of a unique survey which, for the first time, compares the experiences of male and female teleworkers from the same occupational group.

This publication is no longer available. IES investigated the nature of interaction between colleges and employers, and the factors promoting or inhibiting success. The study was commissioned jointly by the Further Education Funding Council, the Council for Industry and Higher Education, and the Department for Education and Employment. The work was carried out during 1995 and involved interviews with 75 employers, five TECs, and staff and students from 19 colleges. This report presents the findings, and provides a functional model for the management and development of college interaction with employers.

It provide information on economic activity, full-time and part-time work, industrial and occupational change, pay and women's educational attainment. This is followed by a discussion on the extent to which women remained at a disadvantage in the labour market.

The 1995-1996 Review looked at the characteristics of the student population, the changing context for higher education, and graduate employment prospects.
