Discrimination and access to employment for female workers with disabilities

This study containing IES research considers the access of women with disabilities to the labour market in Europe, in order to assess how multiple discrimination, in this case gender and disability, affects the employment opportunities of women with disabilities.

Reasonable Accommodation and Sheltered Workshops for People with Disabilities

IES participated in this extensive study on costs and returns on investment in measures to improve the labour market situation of disabled people. Our particular focus was on estimating the impact of regulatory reform in the longer term, updating previous impact studies.

Infographic: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Grants 2010-2013

The equality, diversity and inclusion grants were given to Further Education (FE) colleges and training organisations to develop the capacity of the sector to meet the public sector Equality Duty. This evaluation was commissioned by the Skills Funding Agency. It assessed the impact and value for money of the grants, and included good practice eight case studies.

Evaluation of the Impact of Learning Below Level 2

This evaluation of the impact of learning below Level 2 in Further Education in England was commissioned by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The overarching aim of the evaluation was to determine the impact that Below Level 2 FE learning has had on learners’ lives, in terms of: their employment status and earnings; prospects at work; their search for a job; benefit dependency; and learning progression.

Engaging individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities in workplace learning

The aim of this guide is to highlight where and how providers can work to make their offer of workplace learning more inclusive for disabled employees. It is based on the good practice, insights and experiences of a number of providers from across England who are working hard to deliver learning provision in an accessible and inclusive way, both inside the workplace and outside of it. This guide aims to share these insights more widely in order to add value to the existing good practice that many providers already have underway around the Equality Duty and their own equality and diversity commitments.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) underpin many aspects of modern living, so for the 10 million disabled people in the UK access to ICT is an important factor in their quality of life. This POSTnote summarises the issues that disabled people face in using ICT and looks at progress towards achieving equivalent access to services for disabled and non-disabled users.

Disability and Skills in a Changing Economy

The UK Commission developed a series of Briefing Papers with a focus on equality and skills in a changing economy. The aim was to inform and enable connected thinking about how to enable opportunity in the labour market through skills. Each paper provided commentary and analysis for an equality group or theme: disability and skills in a changing economy; gender and skills in a changing economy; low skills and social disadvantage in a changing economy; older people and skills in a changing economy and spatial inequality and skills in a changing economy.
