As the assessment centre method has become an increasingly popular way of assessing employees, a number or organisations have been experimenting with using it as a means of developing their staff. The IMS Graduate Review, 1993

The 1993 annual Graduate Review revealed a continuing surplus and consequent unemployment of graduates. It looked at the new recruiters, new opportunities and changes in the nature of courses. Government checks on expansion of admissions faced many counter-pressures. The report contained a section on postgraduates, plus all the facts, figures and trends needed. Employers’ Attitudes Towards People with Disabilities

This publication is no longer available. Conducted for the Employment Department, this study assessed the extent to which employers were prepared to identify and meet the needs of disabled recruits and employees. Only a small minority met the legal quota. Whilst some people with disabilities preferred to remain unregistered, stereotypes of disability and assumed difficulties deterred some employers from their active recruitment.

The previous decade saw a substantial growth in postgraduate study, mainly at masters degree, but also latterly at postgraduate diploma levels. It was increasingly used as part of professional or vocational training and its traditional role as a first step to an academic career had declined.
