CITB – Accelerated Apprenticeships

IES are delivering qualitative research to support CITB’s evaluation of the accelerated construction apprenticeship.

The Accelerated Apprenticeships programme is a new CITB-funded initiative supporting the delivery of accelerated, block-release apprenticeships in high-demand construction trades. These programmes are designed to reduce delivery times to 14–18 months, compared to traditional 2–3-year apprenticeships, while still achieving the same apprenticeship standards.

IES will deliver and analyse interviews and focus groups with apprentices, training provider(s) and employers involved in delivering the Accelerated Apprenticeship. The purpose of the evaluation is to test the new model of accelerated apprenticeship delivery including the demand from employers for shorter apprenticeships in high-demand trades for home building, such as bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, and groundwork; and to understand if this training model has improved completion rates for accelerated apprenticeships.
