In March 1999, FOCUS TEC commissioned IES to evaluate the long-term impact of Investors in People on the development of workforce skills, on business performance and to review organisations’ experience of reassessment.There were two main aims for the study:

To determine how organisations themselves evaluate the impact that Investors has on their organisation (at whatever level) and use the data collected to provide an overall assessment of the longer-term impact of the standard on business performance.
To gather information on organisations’ experience of the re-recognition process and their intentions with regard to re-recognition.
