Behavioural change at work
Behavioural change at work will be the theme for this year’s HR Directors’ Retreat. We plan to explore the science, the research, the practicalities and case studies in this area. There is continued interest in how to bring about and adapt to behavioral change both at a personal level and organisationally. The best leaders know themselves well. They’re aware of their strengths and areas in which they wish to make and effect change. They also know to harness individual strengths and preferences to bring about wider change in their organisations and for those they manage.

Building on personal strengths to improve performance
IES has recently been working with one of our public sector clients to help improve performance across the organisation using a strengths-based approach. We have been supporting the development of strengths in organisations for some time now, building on research which suggests that developing the strengths of individuals leads to increased performance and improved productivity.

An honest insight into two high-profile organisations. The IES conference took place on 16th October and was well attended, with approximately 65 people participating on the day, which was expertly chaired by David Smith, chair of the IES board. Penny Tamkin offers a brief roundup of the day.
New HR Membership Managers

The third report in the Engaging Manager series explores how engaging managers deal with difficult situations at work – situations which most managers dread and hope will never happen. These include managing poor performance, tackling unacceptable behaviour, and breaking bad news to individuals or the team.
