Metrics
IES and HMRC are setting up an action learning set on human capital metrics. Rather than going round the circuit again of definition and reporting, we want to discuss and then answer, some specific questions concerning:
- HR metrics that aid business decision making
- Visuals that work: scorecard/dashboards, performance walls
- Quantifying the impact of learning and development
- Leadership and management’s impact on business performance including talent management, succession planning, and development
- Do performance management processes impact on delivery?
- Is HR worth the investment? If yes, prove it.

Learning evaluation tool
IES has been working with Capita to develop a strategic learning and development assessment tool, for use by organisations that want to test their strengths and gaps by comparing current performance against business expectations and best practice across a range of key areas. It helps organisations check that they are meeting the strategic priorities of the business and suggests where the L&D team should focus its efforts to improve business impact.
To support this activity, IES and Capita are jointly launching an action learning set, outside the membership offer, to allow participants to explore different areas of learning and development effectiveness.
They will receive inputs from IES and Capita including short papers on relevant topics.
