We regularly have opportunities available for suitably qualified people to join us for six months and gain experience as Research Interns. We pay the Living Wage and can offer a range of opportunities to develop research skills and knowledge among a friendly team of staff. We look for people with an undergraduate degree in a social or economic science discipline who can demonstrate some knowledge of and interest in one or more aspects of employment policy or human resource management issues.
Senior Research Economists
We also welcome proactive applications from suitably qualified people to join us as Senior Research Economists. We offer a salary ranging from £39,000 to £45,000, and attractive benefits. Senior Economists at IES lead and manage quantitative analyses in the fields of employment, labour markets, health, and social policy. This role involves carrying out analysis of data from both survey and administrative sources to estimate the causal impact of public policy changes and associated costs and benefits. Typically, projects estimate the effectiveness of programmes designed to overcome barriers to labour market participation and reduce inequality, and so this role will have a particular focus on leading and managing high quality impact evaluations.
The successful candidate will be a highly competent quantitative researcher, with excellent skills in applied econometrics, statistics and/ or programming, and a track record in using th
ese skills to a high standard as part of a research team. They will have the ability to win work, lead project teams and work closely with clients. Applicants should have excellent academic qualifications in economics or empirical social sciences (preferably at Masters level or higher) and a good understanding of UK employment and social policy and related research evidence.
