The focus is Phase 1 of the Teaching Industry Exchange (TIE), which aims to facilitate a two-way exchange between industry professionals and FE providers in order to improve the quality and relevance of FE provision and talent pipelines. Ipsos and the Institute for Employment Studies are delivering qualitative research for the Department for Business and Trade to understand how UK employers use zero-hours contracts and other flexible working arrangements in workforce planning. The findings will provide practical evidence to support policy implementation, impact assessment and guidance for employers.
We are researching flexibility options for AE pensions for lower paid workers, interviewing experts and employers and developing a policy paper and employer toolkit to help support lower paid workers in pension decisions.
The WMCA is drafting it's Get Britain Working Plan to support the ambition of an 80% employment rate. IES is designing and facilitating a workshop session for 80 stakeholders from work, health and skills, to develop a shared understanding of the local priorities and challenges, consider opportunities for change and create a collection action plan. An evaluation of the SLN Uni Connect Raising Attainment Programme across two schools in Sussex, delivered by Action Your Potential. This will involve focus groups with students and their parents, interviews with teachers and staff at Action Your Potential and SLN, and analysis of GCSE attainment data.
IES is delivering a series of Better Jobs Programme workshops and follow up support to JLP UK suppliers. The aim is to bring suppliers together to better understand, share and promote best practice on topics that support good work for their employees. This will be targeted at those suppliers who have actively engaged in the JLP Better Jobs programme in the UK.
Keeping nurses at work is a national priority. This study funded by National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) aims to find out more about the motivations of later-career nurses (defined as those aged 45 and over) to help determine what would encourage them to stay longer in nursing and the NHS. The research involves a literature review, analysis of nursing and labour force data, career narative interviews, and surveys including a Descrete Choice Experiment.
CITB wishes to continue to build on its portfolio of research activity into careers in construction and to expand this to be as all-encompassing as possible (considering the whole journey into a career in construction). This latest phase of the research will have two objectives: to continue to collect key performance indicators (KPIs) from parents and young people and feedback from career guidance professionals to enable CITB to monitor and evaluate their careers activities (annually from 2024-2029); and conduct exploratory research with young people; and experimental research exploring the impact of social class of career decision making through a literature reiew and stakeholder interviews (2024-2025).
We are working with the North Central London Integrated Care Board to develop a new work and health strategy. The project comprises desk research, partner and resident engagement, data analysis and strategy development.
The project will supply an evaluation of London's Adult Maths Multiply Programme including Outreach Roadshow provision. The evaluation will explore effectiveness of the different elements and provide formative and summative feedback on progress. The research will involve qualitative research and surveys to feed into reports.
