To inform the Labour Market Evidence Programme’s fourth evidence review, we are asking for published or unpublished evaluations of adult skills training pilots and interventions focusing on training and retraining adults who are in or out of work. We are also interested in seeing published or unpublished studies that highlight specific ‘what works’ elements from a programme or intervention. This includes:
- What are the features and enablers of effective retraining interventions? How does this vary for people with different characteristics and across different areas?
- How does the context (for example sector and demand) interact with the effectiveness of interventions?
- How do other programme elements (for example guaranteed interview, financial assistance) impact on the success of programmes?
- Who is best placed to deliver retraining interventions including: careers advice, and training courses?
What evidence are we looking for?
For this review, please share evidence related to adult skills training pilots and interventions that:
- Were delivered in the UK or other high-income OECD countries after 1997;
- have a focus on exploring individual outcomes, such as employment or increased wages;
- have been evaluated or is a study that highlights the ‘what works’ elements of the support.
We ask for submissions to be received by Wednesday 10th June.
