Evaluation of ELATT’s Connected Youth programme as part of YFF’s What Works programme – Programme Concept Test category. Year 1 Scoping phase: scoping interviews with staff, development and refinement of participant journey(s) and Theories of Change, MI data review. Year 1 – 3 Process evaluation: interviews with staff, stakeholders, young people with SEND, EHCP, migrants, looked after children, care leavers and refugees. Year 3 Feasibility of further evaluation: recomendations to YFF for further impact evaluation of Connected Youth.

This project involves analysis of labour market statistics to understand three principal research questions: how many individuals across the UK have the skills and experience suitable for a quality part-time job but currently do not have such a job? of these individuals, how many would be able to lift their household out of poverty if they found a quality part-time job at their earning potential? of these individuals, how many would be able to lift their household off out-of-work and means-tested benefits if they found a quality part-time job at their earning potential?

IES has been contracted to evaluate the mentoring programme delivered in England by the ETF with DfE grant funding during 2021-22. The process evaluation includes analysis of MI, interviews with mentors grant leads and stakeholders, surveys with mentors and mentees. The programme includes a short online course introducing mentoring, a programme for those nwe to mentoring and an advanced course for experienced mentor. Alumni events are also planned for cohort 1.

We are supprting SomersetWorks to evaluate the initial design of a pilot to support NEET young people with compelx barriers to EET to transition into positive destinations. We will be evaluating progress of the intervention against targets, delivery and management, outcomes and impact, value for money, and lessons learnt for future activity, as well as identifying the best routes for sharing and disseminating this information. In particular, we will focus on understanding whether the holistic, community partnership delivered programme that combines therapies, education and employment is an effective method to break down barriers for the most vulnerable NEET young people across Somerset.

The research will bring together and build upon CITB’s portfolio of research activity into careers in construction. It will draw upon key performance indicators (KPIs) that have been developed and tested across various projects to enable CITB to continuously monitor and evaluate their career’s activities with a broad range of stakeholders. Through multiple surveys and qualitative interviews, the research will explore attitudes and awareness of the construction industry, perceptions about entry and access to the sector, and engagement with construction careers information, advice and guidance.

This project is an extension of the Coaching Early Conversations Interaction and Language (CECIL) project looking at two speech and language therapy teams (Nottinghamshire and Hackney) interventions in private, voluntary and independent (PVI) nurseries to support practitioners to develop two- year -olds language skills. This project includes longitudinal case studies and telephone interviews and theory of change workshops over the 21/22 academic year.

IES has been commissioned to conduct an independent evalaution of a suite of hybrid and on-line programmes. Our approach is to go beyond a traditional training evaluation to capture the results of participants’ working differently and leading the change of a personalised care agenda. Methods include participant surveys and organisational case studies. In addition we will analyse marketing and programme datasets to explore reach and selection.

This is a 3.5 year evaluation (led by Ipsos MORI) of the Help to Grow: Management (a government subsidised programme that provides 50 hours (over 12 weeks) of leadership and management learning, mentoring and peer networking to SMEs, delivered by Business Schools). The aim of Help to Grow is to increase SME productivity and turnover through the adoption of new management techniques. Our main role will be to support the qualitative aspects of the evaluation, delivering interviews with SME beneficiaries, Business Schools and other stakeholders and producing around 7 x best practice case studies, and other outputs, each year. Our work will mainly be Autumn to Spring each year.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, NHS England (NHSE) and NHS Improvement (NHSEI) commissioned the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) to conduct a series of three Snapshot Surveys of the Primary Care Workforce to provide a ‘temperature check’ of the wider workforce at key moments. The findings of these surveys offered valuable insight for NHSE and NHSEI into the wellbeing of the workforce as it coped with the demands the pandemic had on services. The purpose of this piece of work is for IES to assist NHS England in continuing to understanding the wellbeing of the Primary Care workforce over time. IES will conduct three bi-annual online surveys of the Primary Care Workforce at approximately six-month intervals to provide a ‘snapshot’ of wellbeing, resilience and burnout levels, and intention to leave, within the workforce.
