Reflections on: Making Flexible Working the Default
Webinar summary:
BEIS (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy) are consulting employers on a range of proposed measures to improve access to flexible working. Post pandemic, it is clear the demand for flexible working has grown. Whilst this has benefits for many individuals, it can also throw up job design challenges for employers, particularly in non-office based roles. During this interactive event, we explore together some of the opportunities and challenges the proposed legislation presents.
Claire Campbell is the new Director of HR Research and Consulting at IES. Her previous role was at Timewise, the flexible working consultancy, where she has led flexible working projects with employers ranging from NHS England to Google to Greater London Assembly to Linklaters. Claire draws on her practical experience as well as some of IES’ latest research such as the Work After Lockdown project.
This webinar covered:
- Growth of demand in flexible working
- Current proposal for consultation
- Approaches to flexible working

- Barriers and opportunities for employers
