In this IES Perspectives on HR 2017 essay, Peter Reilly writes with Professor Maura Sheehan on the role that HR might play in workforce innovation.

The authors discuss the ways in which HR can facilitate or contribute to workforce innovation, including the policies and practices that appear most conducive to innovation. Their paper also offers a discussion around what is perceived to be in HR's domain if HR is seen as a contributor to workforce innovation. It may well be the case that HR's contribution is limited depending on the way we view the function.

The authors then move to offer insights on areas where HR might be seen as offering a contribution to workforce innovation, including risk management and cultural change.
