In 2010 the National Institute for Adult and Continuing Education (NIACE) and the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) were commissioned by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) to evaluate the impact of the introduction of new or improved technologies funded through the Get Connected funding stream.

Beneficiaries of the grants were primarily residential care and nursing homes and domiciliary and community care organisations.

The evaluation consisted of two rounds of surveys and case studies. The first survey was conducted between October 2010 and January 2011, with the first set of 20 case studies conducted between March and June 2011.

In October 2011, nine months after the initial survey of the first tranche of Get Connected grant recipients closed (in January 2011) a second survey was conducted with the first cohort of Get Connected grant recipients. This report sets out the outcomes of that second round of surveys.
