Shared Parental Leave (SPL) and Shared Parental Pay (ShPP) are new ways for parents to share statutory leave and pay on the birth of a child. They will be available for working parents whose baby is due on or after 5 April 2015, or who adopt a child on or after that date.

This paper offers a concise summary of the key facts you need to implement the new regulations.

It also offers an insight into the questions being asked by employers, and what they are doing to address the issues raised.

N.B. This document was revised very soon after intitial publication to clarify procedure around the employer's consideration of booking notices.
