IES HR Directors' Retreat Part 1: Strategic Resourcing for Change and Uncertainty

Thu 25 Feb 2021 09:30 to Thu 25 Feb 2021 11:45

Strategic workforce planning has been high on the HR and leadership agenda for several years as many organisations face market and technological change. At the start of 2020 employers were concerned about navigating skill shortages and shifting demographics in the context of an uncertain path towards BREXIT. Early in 2021 the economic, labour market and social disruption of the pandemic had added to  national and organisational challenges and turned many people’s lives upside down.

This event for senior HR leaders in the IES Network is a chance to reflect on:

■       What we have learned about organising and resourcing work in extremely uncertain circumstances;

■       How this should affect our approach to strategic workforce planning;

■       The future employment relationship we will seek with different kinds of workers;

■       The labour market challenges and opportunities for the UK, individuals and employers.

In line with the design of previously face-to-face Retreat events, delegates will have plenty of opportunity for conversation and the sharing of their own experiences and ideas.

They will be stimulated by inputs on two main topics:

Strategic workforce planning in turbulent times
Philippa Bonay, Director of People and Business Services and HR Director for the Government Analysis Function, Office for National Statistics, and Wendy Hirsh, Principal Associate, IES

The UK workforce in context: challenges and opportunities
Tony Wilson, Director, IES
