As part of its strategic framework for leadership development: Excellence in Leadership – Excellence in Health, NHS Yorkshire and the Humber (NHS Y & H) and all NHS organisations within the region were keen to promote their commitment to the development of inspirational leaders by encouraging talent that reflected both the diversity of the locality and the communities it served.

The Institute for Employment Studies (IES) was commissioned to undertake research into how chief executives in the region had made it to the top in the NHS.This is a 'hints and tips' guide from chief executives in the region gathered under useful themes.
