This paper examines the challenges of career development for employees and their employing organisations against the backdrop of pre-existing trends and changes, amplified by the business and employment disruption of the pandemic.
It questions whether long-standing approaches to career development in organisations are adequate and offers some suggestions for what employers could be doing now to position their businesses and workforces better for the future.
