Employers’ Attitudes Towards People with Disabilities

Honey S, Meager N, Williams M | Report 245 | Institute of Manpower Studies | Sep 1993

Conducted for the Employment Department, this study assessed the extent to which employers were prepared to identify and meet the needs of disabled recruits and employees. Only a small minority met the legal quota.

Whilst some people with disabilities preferred to remain unregistered, stereotypes of disability and assumed difficulties deterred some employers from their active recruitment.
