Evidence paper to support the launch of the Commission on the Future of Employment Support

This paper is being published to accompany a new Commission on the Future of Employment Support, which IES is providing the secretariat for and is being funded by abrdn Financial Fairness Trust.  More information on the Commission is available here, including a Call for Evidence that will be open until 30^th January 2023.

It provides further background and evidence on the UK labour market before and since the Covid-19 pandemic and compared to other developed economies. It includes new analysis from the Labour Force Survey on what is driving higher worklessness since the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as detailed comparisons between the UK and other developed economies drawing on OECD and EU sources.
