The impact of the minimum wage on employment and hours
Interim Report
This is the interim report of an extended 18-month study investigating the impacts of the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage on employment and hours.
This interim report presents early findings from IES analysis of the Labour Force Survey. We find no significant effects on employment or hours as a result of NMW and NLW increases.
Future analysis will focus on specific groups of workers, such as women working part-time and young people, using the larger Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings. The final research will be published during 2019.
