This report presents the findings from an IES study funded by the Money Advice Service and conducted in 2017-18. The study trialled IES and Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) employee financial wellbeing guidance in organisations and aimed to build a business case within organisations for support on employee financial wellbeing.

The study also aimed to assess the level of support needed by employees through the launch of a baseline employee survey and assess the effectiveness of actions taken by employers, comparing observations though a follow-up employee survey and interviews conducted in early 2018.

The report's findings include key barriers faced in building internal support for employee financial wellbeing and highlight the need for HR and senior leaders to build the business case for such support. It also highlights how employee surveys were an effective tool to assess employee needs for support and to get initiatives off the ground and build a more strategic and impactful approach moving forward.
