The New Deal for Young Unemployed People

Dewson S, Eccles J |   | National Council for Voluntary Organisations | May 2001

This report presents the findings of a study on the New Deal for Young Unemployed People, commissioned by NCVO.

The study's aim was to explore and determine the experiences of young people entering the Voluntary Sector option of the New Deal for 18 to 24 year olds.

It also assessed how young people's passage through the New Deal programme affected their attitudes to the voluntary sector as a whole. This New Deal option appeared to attract participants by default rather than from informed choice.

The report concluded with recommendations for all involved with its delivery.
