Tackling gender, disability and ethnicity pay gaps: a progress review
This report produced by IES on behalf of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) examines the effectiveness of interventions to tackle the gender, disability and ethnicity pay gaps in the UK.
The report contains the findings of a literature review conducted by IES and discussions with employers and stakeholders throughout several workshops. It considers both the effectiveness of interventions, and provides an overview of the legislative framework and employers' progress in tackling pay gaps.
The report offers insights on the lack of evidence surrounding interventions to reduce the ethnicity and disability pay gaps; the impact of several measures that have been taken to attempt to reduce the gender pay gap in recent years; the failure of voluntary initiatives; and the drivers of pay gaps in labour market structures and wider society.
