The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills has now published the fourth Work-Life Balance Employer Survey (2013 edition). This report provides a detailed and statistically representative picture of employers’ policies and practice on flexible working and leave arrangements.

IES worked with IFF Research on the survey, which built on the most recent Work-Life Balance Employer Survey, dating from 2007, and aimed to examine working hours of managerial and non-managerial staff, assess employers’ awareness of the current statutory leave entitlements, and establish employers’ provision of work-life balance practices. IES assisted in the questionnaire design and report-writing.

The work-life balance employer survey series, which began in 2000, explores the experiences of employers when managing and implementing requests from their employees for alternative working patterns.
